17-01-20 PHOTOS: Amtrak New Englande

Back in January I ventured up to Boston via Amtrak and despite the short days and crummy weather I managed to generate a little bit of rail related content. The northbound trip was on the notorious Train 94, however southbound I decided to splurge on an Acela Express. Not much else to say except you can find most of the photos here.

We start in Penn Station where my phone camera can really show off its low light capability with ACS-86 #605 at the head of my train #94. T94 is usually perpetually late due to its counter-peak time slot into Penn, but today it was doing alright.

Limited Clear displayed for a diverging westbound movement. The Beacon Park yard caused the Boston Line to shrink to a single main track, however with the closure of the yard the MTBA will restore the second main track between CP-3 nd CP-4.

Arriving at South Station for my return trip south, I was just in time for the departure of a special Patriots train to Foxborough where fans would watch Tom Brady's 2016/17 revenge tour.



The line was crazy, starting down one platform and making a U up the other. Here we can also see Amtrak Amtrak AX power car #2012, which would be at the rear of my train home.





The Pats train had an engine at each end. F40PH-2C #1066 was at the rear sitting next to MBB cab car #1513.

I was lucky enough to be in one of the consecutively numbered Acela Express trainsets. Power car #2013 was at the leading end.
